This morning started out right with a delicious medley of
apple cinnamon and peanut butter Cheerios (Thanks, Alex!) The guys had already
started their workday in the weight room, but we had to get ready and go pick
up our rental car. As we start to
head out the door, we realized that we didn’t have a key to lock the apartment
with…so we went a little James Bond in Apt 3B, locked the door from the
inside and climbed out the window.
What better way to start off a great American adventure, right?
Got to drive the Hummer to go pick up the rental car (thanks
#2 to Alex) and we ended up getting all kinds of discounts and a free GPS for a
great price…partially because we asked lots of questions and were super nice to
the attendant, but also partially because it may or may not have been this
man’s first week on the job. Mostly I like to think it was all JC looking out for us
so that’s where we will leave it.
We left there with our new car for the month – a red Toyota Corolla
(Sorry, Dad. I asked for a Honda
but that didn’t have any at that site. Boooo!)
We then made a stop at the Auburn coliseum weight room to
see the guys before going to lunch at Cheeburger Cheeburger downtown. It was delicious – what meal isn’t
delicious that’s finished with a milkshake. Next came the driving tour of Auburn hosted by Alex Lee
himself, and then a few more tours and stops on campus. (In the midst of all this we were issued a $50.00 parking ticket for parking in the coliseum lot but then proceeded to get it dropped. Jesus was really looking out for us today!)
That night we visited the famous Auburn Taco Truck. Also a
huge hit! And what better way to
end a great first full day of travels than with a late night viewing of
Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon.
[Special thanks to the boys of 3B for transportation, housing, food,
and an overall good time. We are
spoiled, that’s for sure!]
