We checked out of our hotel this morning and headed out on
Operation: Fantasy Factory Find.
If you’ve ever seen the show Rob & Big or Fantasy Factory, Rob
Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory warehouse is located in LA. As crazy and fun as he is, we were hoping that just maybe we
may see him or on some off chance that we could get in to tour the place. We did find it pretty easily and we sat
outside in the car for a little while like stalkers, but there was not a place
to enter through the gate and no place to call the front desk to possible get
in. Just as we rolled away, we
were passed by a black Escalade on this deserted street that we are 97.5% sure
had Rob and his cousin Drama in the front seat…so we’ll say we saw them. A drive by celebrity sighting counts, I say.
Our next stop was the Griffith Observatory. This beautiful building is used in tons
of movies but is also a giant astrological museum and an actual observatory;
complete with the most intense telescope I have ever seen. It was gorgeous and provided a great
view of the Hollywood sign again, LA, Hollywood, and Bel Air.
For lunch we decided that we had to stop at an In & Out
Burger. We heard it’s a big deal
on the West Coast so that’s what we did.
It was good, but it was no Five Guys.
On to Beverly Hills (cue Weezer song here). First on the list – we went to
Sprinkles, the world’s very first cupcake only bakery. It was delicious. We were so excited that we forgot to
take a pic beforehand, so this is all we’ve got:
Of course we had to get out and walk down Rodeo Drive. I couldn’t afford a thing in any of the
stores, but it was nice to look at and nice to put on the “did it” list.
We took off from there to head towards San Francisco, but we
stopped off in Santa Barbara, CA first.
We are huge fan of the TV show Psych at the Lundy Drive house, and if
you know the show, you know it’s set in Santa Barbara and involves the police
department, so that’s where we went – to get pics in front of the SBPD.
Then we took it to the waterfront for dinner at Endless
Summer Café, named for the famous surfing movie – wait for it - “Endless
Summer”. The director of that
movie, Bruce Brown, is a frequent customer at that restaurant and just so
happens, he was there the night we went.
He spoke to us briefly when we walked in and was super nice.
From there, we drove on through to San Francisco, straight
to our hotel and then straight to bed! (I won’t talk about this hotel…this
hotel was our dud for the trip. It was bound to happen, right?)
