Day 09: Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Well, you saw the room from yesterday! We woke up early but spent a few hours enjoying that space and exploring the resort.  From there we went to the Tucson Mall to pick up some quick clothing essentials and it was here that we made the most terrible decision to date on this trip...we decided to each eat a Cinnabon.  Our bodies hated us!  All that sugar in all that heat.  I'm surprised we didn't slip right into a coma.  We survived though, we survived.

From there we went to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson...AMAZING!  This is the largest storage facility of military aircraft in the US.  They store, gut, improve, reconstruct and preserve all different types of planes and helicopters there.  The area is referred to as "The Boneyard" and there is a section there called "Celebrity Row".  It's a strip of planes lined up on both sides, each with special significance and perfect for tours like the one we took through the Boneyard.  Rebecca and I were the biggest nerds snapping pictures left and right, but we didn't care.

Also, another fun fact - PASM is one of the filming locations of Transformers 2!  The plan used as part of the Tranformer named Jetfire in the movie is located inside the museum building (it's a SR-71 Blackbird)  Becca is the world's biggest Transformers fan so she was in heaven.  Of course, I loved it too, but I think this definitely made her trip!

Sidenote:  By this point in the day, the temperature had reached an ungodly degree.  These two girls were not made for that kind of heat. That car A/C was straight from heaven, let me tell you.

From there we set off to the Scottsdale/Phoenix area for the night. After checking in the hotel we went back into town to eat at a great restaurant called Roaring Fork.  Delicious!  We drove around a bit and then it was back to the hotel for us.
