Explore LA – that’s what we did today! First things first – we jumped back on
that Metro. Today my perspective on this Metro was very different. As I sat there for our 20-minute ride,
I saw all types of people – various races, socio-economic backgrounds, cultural
differences, etc. This is
America. It was a snapshot of what
God has intended from the very beginning – everyone, no matter the color of
your skin or what neighborhood you grew up in or how much money you have now,
on this journey together, all heading in the same direction (toward Him). What a great reminder. I love how God can be so subtle yet so
intense at the same time. It was
great.
There was a slllliiiiiiiight incident where we were questioned by the LAPD regarding our Metro tickets, but it was a just misunderstanding of course and they were very nice after I correctly answered a trivia question they gave us about North Carolina...but I digress... (Don't worry, Mom.)
First stop off the Metro: Hollywood Hills to get a pic of
the Hollywood sign. We walked for
I think ten years but we finally found that sucker and a good spot to take
pictures. I would have loved to go
right up to it but due to vandalism and such over the years, there’s only
restricted access now to the sign. :(
By then, it was time for lunch so we stopped in The 101
Coffee Shop. This old diner is a
popular celebrity hag out and has been featured in several movies and TV shows
such as Entourage, Swingers, and Gilmore Girls. Of course we didn’t see any celebrities when we were there
but our waitress told us that they are in and out of there all the time…our timing
is impeccable.
Across the street from this diner was the famous Hollywood
Tower Hotel – main stay for loads of famous faces over the year and inspiration
for the the Hollywood Tower of Terror ride in Disneyworld.
Next stop was Hollywood Boulevard and that’s where we saw
all the big name celebrities!!!
Literally…we saw their names.
It was the Hollywood Walk of Fame, preserved names within a star in the
sidewalk for blocks upon blocks. Here's just a few...

All these stars lead up to Grauman’s Chinese Theater where
you can find the cemented handprints of the stars all the way back to Norma
Talmadge, the first celebrity to put her footprints in the cement (all by
accident, but it started the tradition) in 1927. The theater has been home to tons of movie premieres over
the years, including the original Star Wars and has also hosted a few Academy
Awards ceremonies over the years.
Very cool to see in person.
On our way back we also saw another Hollywood big shot, Bumblebee! And of course got our pic taken on Hollywood Blvd. And we found the perfect award for Mike.

So, I was super pumped for the last event of our day – a
Dodger’s game and my first ever MLB experience. We headed over to that stadium to watch the Dodgers play the
Phillies in a pretty great game.
It came down to the very last play – 3 to 2 Phillies, Dodgers at bat
with two outs and a guy on third.
They had their chance to bring that run in and tie the game at least,
but it ended with an out from an infield pop fly. Boooo! You can
be sure we had a great time though.
I felt so American! We had
hotdogs and bought Dodgers shirts and the guy beside me was quite entertaining
as he must have been the most die-hard Dodgers fan there ever was. We even saw a nun rocking her Dodgers gear harder than anyone at that game! It was a good time for sure.
Back to the hotel for some shut eye (oh, annnnnnd we did laundry
until 2am. No big deal.)
